Germans in the Salient re-enactors detachment



Because the Germans too lost a lot of men in the Salient, there are also members of SRD portraying the German forces of WW1 
The uniform prefered is that of the 'Stormtrooper'. It was already used from late 1915 till the end of the war.
It 's the typical uniform for the German forces who fought in the battle of Passchendaele.
It is also the easiest uniform to find in repro.
From 1916 the spike helmet was replaced by the steelhelmet. This makes it again easier for the German re-enactor.
Most of the equipment used had selfmade 'Ersatz' versions. This is a nice an creative subject for the men who portrait the 'Frontschwein' (German soldier).
