However, Jesse is also a variation of Isaļ, a Hebrew word of which the meaning is uncertain. Possibly 'man' or 'gift'. The latter meaning is attributed to the English /American use of the name.
As well as simply liking the name, we also like the meaning 'gift' and feel this is quite appropriate, especially if you know our history. Jesse is not a common name (which we like), although there seems to be a certain increase of babies/children with this name. According to the website of Spaarbeleg, in the last 24 months 949 children were born in the Netherlands with the name Jesse.
My father claims that Jesse in Hebrew means 'God exists'. This is quite a paradox for me (being an atheist!).

Servaas: Name explanation This is a shorter version of Servatius. St. Servatius was the bishop of Tongeren and Maastricht and died 13 May 384 AD. He was one of the 'Ice Saints' (Ijsheiligen).
Servaas refers to Jesse's grandfather & father and honours this traditional (Kamerling) family name.
