The pleasures of the countryside

Hello there;
My name is Roland t'Kint de Roodenbeke,
My wife Nicole and I have three children aged from 31 years to 37 and 3 grand children (I'm holding Rodrigue , 9 months old ).
I am almost 65 years old and hold a farm (240 acres of land).
I'm an agricultural Engineer. In 2008 we decided to install "cellular photo volt pains " on our roof : 60 square meters of pane ; they produce about 7200 kwh annual electricity .

We grow crops ( sugarbeet, corn ,wheat, potatoes and witloof for inuline)
I spent my younger years in the USA ,
exactly in Rockville Center, Long Island N.Y .
It's the reason why I love to hear from people over there and
do welcome them in Belgium
I recently welcomed Betty Durnan -Howerton
with her husband and two kids . Thanks to classmates we got in touch
spoke about the good old days , visited Tournai, got invited to a good restaurant in the Mont de l'Enclus "Le Bouquet Roubaisien" . In two days we bored our surroundings and I excuse myself for that , but I felt I was fourteen again right back to Rockville Centre. Thank you Betty for all those wonderful memories. Now let's get serious .
My wife and I decided 9 years ago to transform our stable
to a nice lodge for 5 to 6 persons. There are more than 300 of these lodges in Belgium and
I am trying to offer you mine
and around 10 others in our beautiful region, the tournaisis
( Tournai and its region ;see map)
You can rent them for a weekend, a week or monthly .
The lodges that you are about to see ( hit "my gite" on the left column)
are all associated to "agritourisme" and "utra".
They are all marked by the Belgian commision of tourism
and are or will be labelised "1,2,3 or 4 épis"
The lodges are fully equiped houses next or holding to the farm.
They all have a living room, modern    kitchen
, bathrooms, television barbecue etc.
Some lodges like mine have a tennis court,
others, a swimming pool ......

Tournai is near the French boarder and is 50 miles from Brussels ,

38 miles from the "Zoute", one of the most beautiful  town lounging the seaside,

35 miles from Bruges The  " The Venise of the North of Europe ",
20 miles from Lille (France), one hour from Paris with the TGV (bullit train  Lille-Paris).
Tournai is a very ancient city with one of the oldest cathedrals in the world .
