The young man on Rhythm Guitar, he makes records for RCA Victor, his
name is John Wilkinson. Also one of my closest friends. ''
Elvis
Presley, Las Vegas, August 21st 1970
Welcome
to the official website of John R.
Wilkinson. John is known world-wide as
the rhythm guitar player of
Elvis Presley. When Elvis formed his famous TCB-Band, back in 1968,
John was handpicked by Elvis. The King immediately saw the musical talents
of this 23 year old kid from Springfield Missouri. From the very first
rehearsal, John and Elvis became friends. Good friends. Close friends.
Although the entourage around Elvis constantly changed, both on stage and
in Graceland, John remained loyal to his boss until that horrible day in
August 1977. Over
the years, I was fortunate enough to meet
John on different occasions. In 1999, John did two triumphant shows in my
hometown, Mol-Belgium.
Three years later, John
returned to Mol for another
smashing show. I'm proud to call him a good and dear friend. It’s
been my privilege to create this web site,
together with my wife
Sonja and a friend of mine, Geert Van Lommel.
We hope you’ll enjoy the site as much as we have enjoyed making it.
This
one’s for you, Johnny! We love you.
