Byrds records
This page attempts to comprehensively list
every recording released by the Byrds. This page excludes compilations,
unless the compilation includes a recording that is unavailable
elsewhere.
Otherwise, compilations primarily
consisting of Byrds recordings (Greatest Hits, etc.) are listed on the Byrds
Compilations page.
Compilation albums with only one or two
songs by the Byrds are listed on the Byrds Various
Artists page. Such albums might include soundtracks with multiple
artists.
Finally, solo releases by former Byrds
are listed on the individual's discography page. Links to those pages are
at top and bottom.
If you have additions, please contact RAOUL
VEROLLEMAN. If you can
provide scans of album covers (including variations of those shown here),
please e-mail RAOUL
VEROLLEMAN before sending the scans.

Beefeaters: single
Original release date: November 1964
Don't
Be Long Please Let Me Love You
Note: The first 45 rpm record by the Byrds. The second
pair of images may be the commercial version of the single (as opposed to
the promo white-label version). Or it may be a counterfeit. The fifth and
sixth are
the British single (Pye records, from 1965). The seventh
image is apparently
a U.S. or German 45 rpm reissue (with picture sleeve) from circa 1995 on
Elektra Records. (It possibly is a bootleg). The
eighth image is the UK stock copy on Elektra.
The last image is
from the earliest known release: a promo on the Bounty label (an Elektra
subsidiary).
It took us 44
years to find and purchase a copy!

The Byrds: Under Review - A Documentary Film
Original Release Date: August 2007 (Double DVD
from the UK)
Note:
The Byrds
Under Review is a documentary film, which explores in detail the music,
career and background of arguably America’s most influential band.
Inventors
of folk-rock and country-rock, and with a sizeable investment in what
became garage-rock (and ultimately Punk), The Byrds could barely write a
song without creating a new genre.
With the
aid of many who were there at the time, as either part of the group or
close at hand, this 2 DVD set is a celebration of one of Rock N’ Roll’s
truly great bands.
Features
Include:
Rare and
classic performances re-assessed by our panel of experts
Footage
and interviews from then and now
Exclusive
and extensive contributions from Byrds members John York and Gene Parsons,
plus further enlightenment from collaborators such as producer and arrange
Van Dyke Parks, LA scenester and Wrecking Crew guitarist Jerry Cole,
fiddle player Byron Berline and country guitarist Vern Gosdin
Opinion,
review and critique from:
The Byrds
esteemed biographer Johnny Rogan; ex-Rolling Stone editor Anthony
DeCurtis; legendary music historian and author of Eight Miles High:
Folk-Rock’s Flight from Haight-Ashbury to Woodstock, Richie Unterberger
and British music journalist and author Nigel Williamson
Seldom
seen footage of pre-Byrds collectives
Live and
studio recordings of Byrds classics such as ‘Mr. Tambourine Man’,‘I’ll
Feel A Whole Lot Better’, ‘Eight Miles High’, ‘Mr Spaceman’, ‘So You Want
To Be A Rock N’ Roll Star’, ‘Hickory Wind’, ‘Chestnut Mare’ and many
others
Extra

effect he invented for Byrd Clarence White
