News from the 2011 season

November 2011

The 1st XI career averages have been updated - that makes 29 consecutive seasons!

Thanks to Brian Kelso, JQ as the 1sts scorer and all the team captains, we have 2011 averages for the first time for each team:
1st XI, 2nd XI, 3rd XI and 4th XI (see Statto's Corner for previous seasons).

The 2011 season saw a remarkable number of records fall. These will be appearing on Facebook during the winter as stats of the day!

End of season 2011

An excellent season for the club with the most satisfying thing being able to field U11, U13, U15, a midweek side and four weekend XIs, including all four on a few weekends!

1st XI shared the Section Two league title despite losing only two games! http://www.northerncricketunion.org/archive/2011/leagues/League2.shtml

2nds won Junior League 3, also losing only two games - http://www.northerncricketunion.org/archive/2011/leagues/Junior3.shtml

3rds got to the cup final and finished third in Junior 8 - http://www.northerncricketunion.org/archive/2011/leagues/Junior8.shtml

4ths fielded a very young side, came up against virtually all 3rd XIs, and managed a couple of wins and also got to the semi-final of the Cup, losing out to the 3rds!!

June 2011

With just one real blip, the excellent start to the season continues ... after 16 consecutive wins in the Junior Cup, the 1sts lost out to CIYMS II in the second round of this season's competition. In the league, however, the 1sts have won 3 out of 3. Davy Greenlees has already scored 2 hundreds and a fifty! Brian Kelso and Prem Ahire have each got 50s.

2nds, 3rds and 4ths have all begun well. As of 11 June, 4ths have won 1 and lost 1 in Junior League 9. The 3rds have won 2 and lost 2 in Junior League 8. The 2nds have played 2 and won 2 in Junior League 3.

3rds and 4ths are both through to the quarter-finals of the Minor Qualifying Cup. The 4ths victory over Laurelvale III was one of the most remarkable in the club's history especially considering that most of the team were U15! Laurelvale were 79 for 0 after 17 overs chasing on 108!! Academy IV 108 for 6 from 30 overs (Beefy 61 no, 27 extras) Laurelvale III 106 for 9 (Foxy Jnr 6-0-16-3, Francis 4-0-30-2, Connor 6-1-16-1, Adam Wilson 2-0-5-1, NiallG 6-0-33-0, Michael Wilson 6-3-5-0)

U11s began their season with 2 wins in 2 days!
