September 2002

1st XI finished in 6th place in the league, finishing the season strongly after a poor mid-season. The highlight of the season was undoubtedly David Greenlees' remarkable 174 against CIYMS. His partnership with Brian Kelso also smashed the highest partnership record.

Congratulations to Mark Shields who toured England with the Ulster Schools.

June 2002

1st XI progress to quarter-finals of Junior Cup after a good win over Lurgan IIs. BRA 1st XI captain Geoff Riddell took his first 5 wicket haul for the club firsts. This followed knocks of 39 from Brian Kelso and 35 from Davy Greenlees.

May 2002

1sts beat Dundrum by 59 runs in a two nighter after posting a huge 235-4. Ian Moffett just missed out on a maiden century (96*) while Davy Greenlees weighed in with 74 and Alistair Scott 40.

1st XI defeated Donacloney in the league by 6 wickets. Man of match was skipper Davy Greenlees with 4-24 and 41 runs.

1st XI went down to Larne in the league by 5 wickets. Mark Shields 43 and Brian Kelso 38* helped the 1sts post 146.

Academy are through to the 2nd round of the Junior Cup after beating Donacloney by 47 runs (207-7 versus 160). Ian Moffett scored 64, Scotty 37 and Mark Chally his maiden 50.

April 2002

1st XI scored 208-5 against Dundrum with Brian Kelso hitting 68. Unfortunately the game was rained off.

Fixtures for the season have been added.

At the end of April, 12 cricketers spent a long weekend golfing at the Deerpark Hotel in Howth. One can only hope that our cricket this season will be better than our golf

January 2002

David Greenlees is to skipper the 1st XI in 2002. Phil McClay will captain the 2nds, Gareth Gilliland the Thirds and young Lee Thompson the Midweek XI.

1st have been drawn against Donacloney in the first round of the Junior Cup.

October 2001

More statistics have been added to Statto's corner: team records 1983-2001, fifties, five wicket hauls, tidy bowling figures and batting partnerships.

A lot of the 1st XI career averages have been updated including the player profiles (a couple of new ones have been added). See Statto's corner, The highlights of the season included Michael Greenlees taking his 50th career stumping; Dennis Moore played his 100th 1st XI game; Ian Moffett's 511 runs this season has been bettered only 4 times while his average of 39.3 was the 4th best (David Greenlees holds the record with a remarkable 53.1 in 1995 !); Brian Kelso passed 5000 career runs. It was the 10th season he has passed 300 runs; David Greenlees was only 3 runs short of passing 5000; David Greenlees (291) and Brian Boyd (277) are nearing 300 wickets.
