Background: Kids cricket at Academy

Beginning in 2007, Academy CC set up a mini cricket section for kids aged 7-11. Thanks go in particular to Barry Macaulay, Robert Best (and his father) and Brian Boyd for their efforts. The club is extremely grateful to Newtownabbey Council for their  grant of £500 to buy nets and equipment for the boys team. The club would also like to thanks the Lords Taverners who provided a full bag of equipment and a very generous £1000 grant towards the cost of a batting cage.

In 2008, we entered a side for the first time in the NCU Under 11 league and cup. See photo of the first ever Academy U11 team/

In 2010, the club ran weekly coaching sessions for four different age-groups: U9, U11, U13 and U15 with the three older age groups competing in the NCU competitions. The U13 side won the Antrim League. Congratulations to them!
