The Exchange of Experts System in the field of Civil
Protection "EUCIVEX" originated in the framework of the Mechanism as a
special tool.
Indeed, the driving concept is to reinforce the cooperation in civil
protection training whereby individuals can be seconded to teams in other
Member States.

The aim of this secondment is to allow the expert(s)
to gain experience in other fields, familiarise themselves with various
techniques used, to study approaches taken by other emergency services or by
other competent bodies or, if necessary, to attend or give courses requiring
specific expert knowledge not available in the host country.

Exercise

It is through this System, in particular, that those
responsible at a regional and local level benefit most.
The duration may vary in length from a few days to a few weeks depending the

A word about the Community "Mechanism"
|
| The Mechanism as implemented by the European
Commission is designed to support and reinforce the Member States' efforts to
protect people, property -including cultural heritage -, and the environment
in the event of natural, technological, radiological and environmental
emergencies occuring
both inside and outside the European Union. |

Earthquake in Turkey

It is intended to provide support in the event of
major emergencies which may require urgent response action.
A large training programme covering civil protection assistance including
general and specific courses, exercices and an Exchange of Experts System
was set up in 2003 |
