The World Federation of Occupational Therapists is the official international organisation for promotion of Occupational Therapy. Funded in 1952, WFOT currently has 60 member associations.
WFOT maintain liaison with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other international (non-governmental) health organisations.
WFOT uses a programme management structure. There are five programme areas: Executive, International Co-operation, Standard & Quality, Education & Research, Promotion & Development.
The Executive meets every year and council meeting (delegates from all the member associations) meets every two years. Last Council meeting was in 2002 in Sweden and the next one will be in 2008 in Latvia.
organises a World Congress every 4 years. The next one will be in
2010 in Chile.
WFOT publishes a Bulletin twice a year with scientific articles and news from member countries.
Individual membership : through the national associations, qualified occupational therapists may become individual members of WFOT and receive the WFOT Bulletin + code of access to the member section of the WFOT web site.
