JOAN OF ARC: A portable model of
LP (Jade Tree)
Joan of arc brings us self-willed experimental pop tunes. They are on the borderline between the usual pop bands and the "anti" rock bands as Trans Am. I notice a strong difference between the A and B-side of the LP. On the A side are the more usual structured songs, but with a lot of weird sounds and hooks. And the B-side consider more the unusual instrumental tracks. Those instrumental tracks are very minimalist constructed (Count to a thousand). And the more rock orientated (The Hands, How wheeling Feels) songs are painted up by a diversity of samples, bleeps & bloops, etc.
Also the lyrics are quite experimental, they juggle a lot with "word-sound" and contradicts, what is very effective sometimes.
