Khovi uit Estland blijft ons verbazen, na de twee label samplers die ons bereikten, nu deze CD van Galaktlan. Het gaat om het alter ego van Taavi Laatsit die in 1999 al een plaat uitbracht onder het synoniem Vonsuck en samen met Hendrik Luuk Uni vormt.
Taavi schept met zijn project Galaktlan een warme organisch sfeer die toch niet altijd behagelijk is, soms ongrijpbaar, onaards overkomt. Niet verwonderlijk als je weet dat één van zijn inspiratie bronnen oude Russische science fiction films is. De nummers hebben naast de zweverige organisch muziek ook een ritmisch aspect. De ritmisch zijn in het totaal geluid verweven, en bestaan dikwijls uit minimaal pulserende elektronica met herkenbare rudimentaire melodietjes, alla kraftwerk ("Videoton").
Een plaat die opvalt in de huidige elektronica scène door het warme geluid, het wordt des te spannender daar het toch dikwijls is opgebouwd uit minimale stukjes… Aanrader.

Taavi create with his project Galaktlan a warm organic mood which is not always pleasing, sometimes not cacheable, not-earth. Not surprising if you now that one of his influences are Old Russian science fiction movies. The songs have besides the warm organic music also a rhythmic aspect. The rhythms are weave in the total sound, and are mostly build up around minimal pulsing electronic with recognisable rudimentary melodies, like Kraftwerk ("Videoton").
A record that strike in the nowadays electronic scene with his warm sound, it is even more interesting that it is build with minimal pieces…recommended.
