Introduction
Sybarite is the name of our sailing yacht. She is a Jeanneau Melody, built in 1979.

We sailed 7 years in our first boat, a Jeanneau Sangria. As the kids grew up the boat became to small.

We bought Sybarite mid august 2001 in La Roche Bernard on the river 'La Villaine' Brittany France and sailed her to Blankenberge (Belgium).

After 4 seasons and about 7000 Nm, we can say she is very solid and very comfortable in heavy seas, a boat for the long distance.

From Blankenberge we are sailing the north sea with destinations in Belgium, the Netherlands, North France, the English south coast and east coast.

sybarite \SIB-uh-ryt\, noun:
A person devoted to luxury and pleasure; a voluptuary.

This worldly cleric, nicknamed "the sybarite of Saumane", friend of Voltaire and a social luminary in Paris and Avignon, lived a high old life within the medieval fortifications of his chateau in Provence.
--"The dubious charms of Citizen Sade," Irish Times, April 17, 1999

It was a handsome room, certainly--the very room for an artist and a sybarite.
--Mary Elizabeth Braddon, John Marchmont's Legacy

Sybarite comes from Latin Sybarita, from Greek Sybarites, from Sybaris, an ancient Greek city in south-eastern Italy noted for the luxurious, pleasure-seeking habits of many of its inhabitants
