- Savage! [music by Don Julian]
- CD/LP, Ace SWED/EM 114, UK, 1997

- Shalimar [music by R.D. Burman]
- LP, Polydor India, India Import Limited Pressing, 2002
- comment:
- Jack Diamond: An excellent Bollywood soundtrack and actually 1 of the best by 1 of the true great GREATS of the field and one whose records/recordings everyone is always after! RD Burman. And SHALIMAR is undoubtably his most sought after soundtrack. Lots of killer funky sitar, outrageous vocals, and some very nice grooves all told! The album's quite a solid play all the way through, and runs through styles that you don't always find on a soundtrack of this vintage year of 1978 with some totally excellent full-on funky numbers that have some killer production. As the cover says -- "Turn On This Record and The Record Will Turn You On!"
- Shalimar/ College Girl [music by R.D. Burman/ Bappi Lahiri]

- Johan: I liked 6 out of the 17 tracks, which is a good score for a Bollywood soundtrack ;-) www.Indiaplaza.com/ has a US and a UK branche. Prices on the US site are much lower than on the UK site, but international postage is horribly high; postage from the UK site on the other hand is included in the CD price; so I recommend European customers to bu from the UK site.
- Brian Karasick: the best piece from Shalimar, "One Two Cha Cha Cha" was included on the Inflight comp. But the star on this CD is the second soundtrack included called "College Girl". Two pieces steal liberally from Donna Summer and then believe it or not Iron Butterfly's "In Gadda Da Vida" but with a 70's Indian interpretation and vocal styling. Truly would have been worthy of inclusion on Doob Doob 2 these are the kind of really (really) great western "interpretations" you can expect from volume 2. For anyone interested, the company is based in the US but I think also operates in the UK: www.Indiaplaza.com/ Service was prompt and efficient. The video and CD were each US$9.99

- Johan: My rating: 4 points on 5. Hard to describe soundtrack music from the Italian cartoon series. Much variation: lots of funny voices, latin rhythms, Mah-na-mah-na like nonsese goodies... recommended!
- BasicHip: I give it an enthusiastic thumbs up. 35 tracks, some very short - it's a real audio adventure, you never know what is coming up on the next track. Very cartoony, twisted, looney, wacky, madcap, incredibly strange and FUN to listen to! Sure to please lovers of weirdo music.
- Slalom [music by Ennio Morricone]
- CD/LP, Dagored RED 118, Italy, 2000
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 4 points on 5. Tracks from this 1965 spy soundtrack have appeared on some compilations before, but this is the first full release. Quiet some theme repitition, but no abstract experiments as on so many other Morricone soundtracks.

- Johan: My rating: 4 points on 5. As featured on "Easy Tempo 8". Beautiful mellow funk with lush strings, slightly jazzy in a couple of tracks, wordles vocals on 2 tracks.
- Soul Ecstasy [music by The Inner Thumb]
- CD/LP, Emperor Norton EMN 7014, USA, 1999
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 3 points on 5. Never released 1972, dislocated, weird & mellow Indo-funky blaxploitation soundtrack with 1 sitar track, and some eastern (Hong-Kong) influences; also some "spacey" tracks with weird near-abstract electronic sounds, but overall rather repetitive in nature.
- Allan Telstar: terrific. Think Superfly meets Vampiros Lesbos and you'll have an idea as to what it sounds like.

CD, ? Japan, 1997 - comment:
- Mimi Mayer: instro "Nobody Does It Better"...silky guitar solo. Other notable cuts sport a cool Mideastern tinge. Might work for you, if you like real Arabic or Persian music. If not, Bond 77 is the only track worth having.
- Squadra Antigangsters [music by Goblin]
- Star Maidens. The Girls From Space (TV series original soundtrack) [music by Berry Lipman]
- CD, Volcano CPCB 5105, Japan, 2000?
CD, Crippled Dick Hot Wax or All Score Media, Germany, 2002 - comment:
- Johan: My rating: 4 points on 5. To me, he sounds like a mix between Peter Thomas, and (an instrumental version of) the Sparks or Blondy in her disco period. The overall sound is funky, with some nice synth and glockenspiel accents here and there. For a Japanese release, you get a lot of tracks: 28! One of these is a bonus track, another is a dance "radio remix" of the title theme by Ali N. Askin, and the last one is an original composition by this same "Ali". I quite liked all tracks, but definitely missed that spark of brilliance, genius, that Peter Thomas and Gert Wilden do have, but Lipman doesn't. So, very good, but worth the high import price? Nah, I don't think so. According to Dusty Groove: there's also a German release, but I couldn't find it.
- Mr. Unlucky: Barry Lipman is odd. He's done a lot of arranging for pop stars. From what I've heard, both the Star Maidens soundtrack and his track on Strassenfeger, he's kind of in between Peter Thomas and Gert Wilden (for ease of reference.) While I like Star Maidens, I'd say in reference to the aforementioned composers, there are other albums I'd reach for more often. You might really like it though. I don't know what his other stuff is like though. I have a feeling there's a huge stylistic spread with him. If you want, I wrote a review of Star Maidens, maybe that will help you more: www.supersphere.com/

- Svegliati E Uccidi/ Città Violenta [music by Ennio Morricone]
- CD, RCA/ BMG/ Ariola 74321-26477, Italy, 1995, deleted
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 3 points on 5. Lots of theme repitition, and non-melodic suspense themes hat Morricone is so famous for. Most of the best tracks are also featured on "Action Thrillers"
- Hedcandy: Awesome Ennio Morricone disc featuring the soundtrack to The Family. Find it if you savour late 1960's Italio-crime music.
- Svezia, Inferno E Paradiso (Sweden, Heaven and Hell) [music by Piero Umiliani]
- Double LP/CD, Right Tempo/ Easy Tempo ET 901, Italy, 1997
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 5 points on 5. If you want to by only 1 Italian soundtrack from the Right Tempo label, this should be the one. Really beautiful, no crap tracks.
- Peter Risser: this one is good all the way through. lots of nice groovy psych tunes, fa fa fas and mah nas, including the fantastic Samba Mah Na.
- G.R.Reader: There are 4 main themes on the LP according to the sleeve notes, and the LP is really a masterclass in what you can do with such a limitation. Unlike, say, 'the taking of Pelham 123' where the themes are hammered into the ground with repetition, Umiliani sets them in a variety of styles from a psuedo free-form sax solo to a cheesy organ tune, while retaining a coherent feel to the whole double LP. The only complaint I'd have is that I'd like some of the tracks to be much longer, but its a soundtrack, they're obviously as long as they needed to be. A couple of alternate versions, and 'Mah-nah-mah-nah' as well. Its a great record.
