- L'Aile ou la Cuisse [music by Vladimir Cosma]
- LP, Vogue LDY.28076, France, 1976
CD, Pomme music, France, 2001 - comment:
- Johan: My rating: 3 points on 5. This really grew on me over after repeated listening. Odd, light-hearted French soundtrack, influenced by circus music, with a handfull of good tracks. The CD reissue has only 5 tracks from this soundtrack, the rest is forgettable.
- L'amica Di Mia Madre [music by Alberto Baldan Bembo]
- L'antichristo + Sepolta Viva [music by Ennio Morricone]
- CD, Spalax Music 14984, Germany, 1996

- L'Arcidiavolo [music by Armando Trovaioli, performed by I Marc 4]
- CD/Double LP, Black Cat BCR 106, Italy, 2001
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 4 points on 5. Ugly cover, great music, a sort of Renaissance meets spaghetti western meets "now" sound. If you liked I Marc 4 on other CDs, you'll dig this one too! See their web site for details, where you can also buy the CD with your credit card!
- L'Attentato [music by Ennio Morricone]
- LP, Dagored 129, France, 2001

- L'Istruttoria E' Chiusa: Dimentichi/ Il Serpente (The Case Is Closed, Forget It) [music by Ennio Morricone]
- CD, Screen Trax CDST 316, Italy, 1998
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 2 points on 5. "L'Istruttoria" is all atonal anti-music; "Serpente" has about 5 good tracks with nice melodies, the rest is abstract suspense sound.
- Chuck: It has its share of great moments but its not great all the way through. There are some wild wordless ya ya vocals that just blow me away.
- L'uccello Dalle Piume Di Cristallo [music by Ennio Morricone]
- L'ultimo Mercenario [music by Bruno Nicolai]
- La Dame Dans L'auto Avec Des Lunettes Et Un Fusil [music by Michel Legrand]

- La Donna Invisibile [music by Ennio Morricone]
- CD/LP, Dagored 109, Italy, 199?

- Johan: 3 tracks from this soundtrack are featured on "Mondo Morricone", 2 others on "More Mondo Morricone"
- La Legge Dei Gangsters [music by Piero Umiliani]
- Double LP/CD, Right Tempo ET 914, Italy, 1998
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 2 points on 5. Not as surprising, original and captivating as "Svezia,Inferno e Paradiso". Lots of jazz - and not necessarely crime jazz - so, only recommended for jazz lovers. Does contain 1 heavenly scat duet.
- La Métamorphose des cloportes [music by Jimmy Smith]
- CD, ,Emarcy, France, 2002
- comment:
- Johan: Hammond+electric guitar crime jazz.
- La Morte Accarezza A Mezzanotte [music by Gianno Ferrio]
- Double LP/CD, Right Tempo/ Easy Tempo ET 902, Italy, 1998
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 3 points on 5. A bit of mystery and danger lurking inside this beautiful Italian lounge music for a detective movie soundtrack from 1973. Lots of Hammond, funky light jazz sounds, some Harpsichord-like instrument used.
- Chuck: A tremenous soundtrack that takes you on a dark mysterious easy listening journey to a fearful place that is best left on your cd player. The sound starts off slow & easy and suddenly dramatic spy jazz cuts pop out with a funky organ. The atmosphere of suspense, fear and longing is captured dramatically by Gianni Ferrio with soundscapes on this all killer no filler release.
- La Morte Bussa Due Volte [music by Piero Umiliani]
- CD, Cinevox MDF 344, Italy, 2001
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 3 points on 5. A bit too much theme repetition, and only a couple of REALLY great tracks, which are those with the Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni, but all in all a really nice one; not a must tho'
- La Piovra [music by Ennio Morricone]
- CD, JBR 3702, Italy, 1991, deleted

- Johan: My rating: 4 points on 5. TV Soundtrack.
- La Planete Sauvage (Fantastic Planet) [music by Alain Goraguer]
- La Ragazza Dalla Pelle Di Luna [music by Piero Umiliani]
- CD/Double LP, Right Tempo/easy Tempo ET 909, Italy, 1999
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 3 points on 5. The tempo is slow, the arrangements mellow, the mood sad. More than 70 minutes of music!
- Piero Cavina: It may be a matter of personal taste, but I like "La ragazza.." much more than "Il corpo"; I consider that record one of the finest Umiliani's works reissued by Easy Tempo (the others being "Sweden heaven and hell", "La legge dei gangster" and "To day's sound").
- La Ragazza Fuoristrada (= Questo Sporco Mondo Meraviglioso) [music by Piero Umiliani]
- CD/LP, Right Tempo Easy Tempo, Italy, 2003
- comment:
- G.R.Reader: Soundtrack LP from 1971... No sleevenotes at all, but a big shiny gatefold sleeve. I've only had a brief listen, but the sound quality is great, it sounds a lot like the Johnny Harris LP, rich and warm with a full bass sound. Umiliani similarly has a small combo, bass, drums, guitar, presumably himself on organ, with orchestra. There are a couple of tracks which work up almost to easy funk, and there is some nice wah-wah guitar on one of the tracks. Unlike some of his re-issued soundtracks, it doesn't seem to suffer too much from repetition or versionitis (although the longest track is on in two versions) unlike, as much as I love it, "Il Corpo", say. So it seems after a bit of a hiatus, the Umiliani re-issues are back on a full schedule. Which is nice
- Carl Howard: If this is the soundtrack I am thinking of, on Right Tempo, I got it and was very disappointed. I found that between piano demos and constant restatements and recapitulations of no more than three themes, all of which were very slow and maudlin, there was nothing there, certainly nothing catchy at all. Or let's say, nothing I could use in a radio playlist or would want to play in the car again. Since Umiliani's varied so widely, one rarely knnows what to expect from one project to the next. In fact, the one I listened to right after that was his almost entirely electronic Library LP "Effets Speciaux," which is simply awesome throughout.
- G.R.Reader: Not sure if you're referring to Il Corpo or La Ragazza Fuori Strada, (both on right tempo) ?
- La Via Della Droga (The Heroin Busters) [music by Goblin]
- Lady in Cement [music by Hugo Montenegro]
- LP, 20th Century Fox S4204
CD, Harkit HRKCD 8031, UK, 2002 - comment:
- Johan: My rating: 4 points on 5. Classic rocking "Now" masterpiece. Originally issued on 20th Century Fox #S4204. CD contains 2 alternate takes, and an interview with Raquel Welch & Dan Blocker as bonus
- Brian Phillips: ...big surprise to me... Montenegro was no stranger to Rock and Rhythm and Blues, having been involved with the Isley Brothers "Shout" album (which features the words "Rock, Brother" under the RCA emblem on the cover), but with the exception "Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing" and "Give Me the Simple Life" (can't help thinking about Campbell's soup when I hear that, "At first it was strange/Coming home to the range/But I've got a working wife/It's no big deal/Making our kind of meal/So, give me the Campbell life!" Must...bathe...now...), the Lady in Cement really cooks! It cooks so hard, I am almost afraid to see the movie.
- SLarry: it KICKS ASHE. Lots of funky guitar go-go stuff.
- Land Raiders [music by Bruno Nicolai]
- CD, Prometheus PCD 128, ?, 199?
- comment:
- Moon Dawg: Made a year earlier, this score strongly anticipates the melody and arrangements of "Buon Funerale Amigos". (Or, you could say that BFA almost recapitulates Land Raiders.) Rightly considered one of the great spaghetti soundtracks, and essential for the completist, but if you have BFA, you can pass on it.
- Last Tango In Paris (Le Dernier Tango À Paris) [music by Gato Barbieri]
- CD, Rykodisc 10724, USA, 1998?

- Le Foto Proibite Di Una Signora Per Bene [music by Ennio Morricone]
- CD/LP, Dagored RED 106, Italy, 1999
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 3 points on 5. Twelve tracks plus 1 Prevously Unrealeased alternate version. "Mondo Morricone" contains 2 tracks from this, and "More Mondo Morricone" 2 others, and those 4 are by far the best tracks -- I mean: tracks with nice melodies. The rest are rather atonal "suspense" pieces, and IMO not worth it getting the CD, unless you're a completionist or you love the noise they call "contemporary music" ;-)
- G.R.Reader: A beautiful pressing on really nice heavy vinyl. And even better its a good record, ranging from excellent Italian pop and go-go music to atonal space orchestration something like Art Mineo's 'Man in Space with Sounds' meets 'Get Carter'.
- Le Malizie Di Venere/ 28 Minuti Per 3 Milioni Di Dollari/ Hypnos Follia Di Massacro [music by G.P. & G.F. Reverberi/ P. Umiliani/ C. Savina]
- CD, Beat CDCR 34 (distrib. by Colosseum), Italy, 1996
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 4 points on 5. "Malizie" has 2 rockin' sitar tracks, wordless vocals, uptempo 60's beat, Hammond & some kind of electronic organ. "28" is spooky cocktail jazz, of a friendly, intimate atmosphere. "Hypnos" is more spooky than "28" but not really dark or dissonant, still good, relatively nice melodies.
- Le Pollen [music by Pierre Barouh]
- CD, Saravah, France, 199?
- comment:
- Chuck: Pierre Barouh has a matter of fact way of talking and singing in French with a wonderful voice & some beautiful soft background instrumentation made with synthesizers. Super cool feel to the music.
- Les Demoiselles De Rochefort (The Young Girls Of Rochefort) [music by Michel Legrand]
- Double CD, polygram/ Mercury/ Philips 558 408, France, 1998
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 4 points on 5. music by Michel Legrand and lyrics by Jacques Demy. Expensive, but worth it!
- Andrew Grant: I thought it was FAR better than "Parapluies". Yes, I realize that Parapluies has two very famous tunes -- Watch What Happens and I Will Wait For You, but outside of that much of the score is just the sung dialog. The songs are much more interesting, quite funny lyrically (silly at times) and really quite beautiful. Lots of da-be-da-be-da as an added touch. Legrand is in peak form here. The songs have been running through my head all day.
- Elisabeth Vincentelli: It's fantabulous! It includes a lot of the dialog (important since the music weaves in and out all the time in the movie) and it was remastered: the sound is amazing, you think the singers are right next to you. This new set also includes instrumental versions of the soundtrack, as well as an English cover of "Chanson des jumelles" ("A Pair of Twins"), and a recording of Michel Legrand's work sessions as he tried to come up with that song (5 minutes of him going through various melodies, it's fascinating). The booklet is excellent and has wonderful photos. I cannot recommend this enough.
- Lingua D'argento [music by Alberto Baldan Bembo]
- The Liquidator [music by Lalo Schifrin]
- LP, MGM E/SE-4413ST, 1960's
LP, label?, UK, 1999 - comment:
- Johan: My rating: 4 points on 5. Beautiful and varied soundtrack: a strong big band theme sung by Shirley Bassey that is as good as any Bond theme by John Barry; some bossa nova; crime jazz; cool jazz; jazzy pop; groovy rockin' twist; jazz-pop; orchestral EZ. Excellent arrangements with occasional odd instruments and sounds.
- Lo Chiamavano Verita [music by Manuel De Sica]
- Logan's Sanctuary [music by Roger Joseph Manning Jr. & Brian Reitzell]
- CD, Emperor Norton EMN 7031, USA, 2000
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 4 points on 5. FAKE soundtrack, but a very good one! Sounds -- not surprisingly -- as a cool blend of Moog Cookbook (Roger Joseph Manning Jr.) & Air (Brian Reitzell) with some Kraftwerk and Pink Floyd thrown in.
- Rod Lott: pretty cool. It should appeal to lots of ears on this list.
- Emperor Norton: mind altering analog synth soundtrack sequel to the 70's sci-fi cult film, brought by Roger Joseph Manning Jr. (Moog Cookbook) & Brian Reitzell (Air).

- Lolita [music by Nelson Riddle]
- CD, Rhino R2 72841, USA, 1997
- comment:
- Johan: My rating: 2 points on 5. If you think you'll be treated to more of those charming "Lolita Ya Ya" songs, you're in for a big disappointement! Most of this soundtrack is so incredibly dull, mediocre hard-core easy, that only fans of the Melachrino Strings or Liberace might like it. My advice: listen to the CD before you buy it!
- Lupin The Best! Punch The Originals [music by Various Artists]
- CD, Triad, Japan, 2001
- comment:
- Johan: music to a Japanese anime series called "lupin the third".
