It can be thought of as a sort of digital light box - use it to sort through your shots and convert raw files ready for further processing. Use the powerful HTML generator to create pages for your website or to add indexes to your CD-R archives. The thumbnail browser makes it simple to view you images and makes batch operations such as rotating and renaming images quick and easy.

YarcShell Makes Yarc more user friendly . Free

YarcShell is a Windows™ interface to Yarc, an excellent command-line conversion utility for processing RAW data files from Canon™ digital cameras. Yarc was written by Bruce Henderson and is available from the PictureFlow web site at http://www.pictureflow.com.Yarc provides an alternative to the Canon-supplied software, ZoomBrowser, which is slow, cumbersome to use, and prevents you from otherwise using your PC while it is processing RAW files. In order to save typing and to obviate remembering the various command-line switches of Yarc, YarcShell was developed to make Yarc even more convenient to use. YarcShell is thus a Windows 'front-end' for Yarc - Yarc provides the RAW file processing 'engine' while YarcShell provides the user interface. You will need to download Yarc from Bruce's site to use with YarcShell.

So, what does YarcShell do?

YarcShell was designed to be simple to set up and use. It has an intuitive user interface that only permits valid combinations of processing options. It also has a number of convenience features to simplify the handling RAW files.

There are four main pages or 'tabs' in YarcShell:

  • Input - identifies the folder or specific RAW files to process (a screen shot of the Input tab is shown below)
  • Output - allows you to specify what output you want and where it should go
  • Parameters - how the TIFF files should be created i.e. white balance, contrast etc.
  • Options - additional parameters specific to running Yarc

YarcPlus Beta version of a great tool that will be launched in March .Here are some of the important things that YarcPlus can do...
Files can be "submitted" into the YarcPlus File List from multiple sources via...
  • Drag and Drop
  • Right Clicking a CRW file
  • Right Clicking multiple CRW files
  • Right clicking on a folder with CRWs in it
  • Right clicking on a bunch of selected folders with CRWs in them
  • Selecting from within a browser like ThumbsPlus
  • Selecting from a source directory
While YarcPlus is running, additional files may be submitted, thereby creating a list of files that reside in multiple directories. The entire list or a subset of the list may be converted into various formats based on 1-click presets that bring up complete picture setting sets instantly. Even while YarcPlus is busy converting files, additional files and/or folders of files may be submitted for the next round of processing. And your computer is available with processing power left over for doing other tasks.
Files may be converted into a single destination folder, or into the same folder as the source CRW, on a file by file basis. Or into a folder below the source folder, on a file by file basis!
The filenames of converted files can be tagged with the conversion settings so that multiple conversions of the same CRW file can end up in the same folder.
Converted files can be tagged (internally) with the sRGB profile tag so that photo editors and ICC aware programs like Photoshop can know the colorspace of the file.
Up to 20 user created presets allow you to instantly change picture settings, and destination folders with 1 click of the mouse.
YarcPlus has a proprietary Noise filter available that eliminates some of the mid ISO artifacts that have plagued some D30 images (examples will be posted soon).
