1920 Two brothers, Antonio and Augustin are very interested
in dog-breeding, thanks to their passion for hunting and the
huge cynotechnical library they inherited from their father.
They decide to "create" a dog breed adapted to the hunting in
the Pampa: the "Caza Mayor" (hunt to the big game)
1925 Starting from the Perro Pelea de Cordoba and from
ten complementary dog-breeds, the
two brothers manage to fix the characteristics of the future
Dogo Argentino
1926 Some consecutive crossings of Boxer, Bull terrier,
Mastiff, Pointer and Great Dane allowed the origination of the
future Dogo Argentino.
1927 The genetic pool of the first Dogos rest on two
complementary stumps, the Araucana and the Guarani, which will
be later re-crossed together.
1928 Surgeon and expert in genetics, Antonio draws up
the first standard of the breed.
1947 The Cynégétique Diana magazine publishes a portrait
of the Dogo, with the complete standard
1956 Murder of Dr Antonio Norès Martinez
1964 The "Fédération Canine Argentine (FCA)" recognizes
the Dogo as one and only national breed, by opening his genealogical
register.
1968 An article on the breed is published in the Das
Tier periodical, written by Dr Eric Schneider Lyer, pioneer
of the implant of the Dogo in Europe
1971 A Dogo event is organized in Buenois Aires by Ruben
Passet Lastra and Dr Victor Valino, which attracted 50 dogs
from whole Argentina.
1973 The Dogo Argentino is officially recognized by
the "Fédération Cynologique Internationale", which integrates
its standard under N°292
1973/1975 The first dogs arrive in Europe, via Italie
and Germany
1976 First clu in Europe, the Dogo Argentino Club, in
Germany. That same year, the Dogo Argentino Club Dr Antonio
Nores Martinez is born in Buenos Aires.
1978 Decease of Augustin Nores Martinez, whose work
is picked up by Ruben Passet Lastra and Fernando Moreno.
