Rawhide 3rd
best European
Bluegrass band !!!
Rawhide
was voted 3rd best at this years
European World of Bluegrass held on May 13-15 2010 in
Voorthuizen
(NL).
They were chosen out of 40
preselected bands from all over Europe. Congratulations to ourselves :-)
Rawhide welcomes two new members !
Dimi Laveren (38) : bass and vocals
Dimi decided at
age of 6 to become a singer. He
received his frst guitar at 10 and after a few boaring years
at
music school and violent electric noizes in obscure
underground
places the bass seemed to be his instrument of predilection. As a
bassist / singer he evolved from metal to rock to pop to folk to
country
and at last - his favourite style - bluegrass! The "metal of
country" as he calls it.
Dimi is also playing with Kandoris.
Jeff Cardey (35) : mandolin, guitar and vocals
Jeff, born in
Winnipeg (Canada), has been a member
of various musical groups in a broad range of styles from
classical to jazz and fusion and has played solo mandolin with the
Toronto Mandoilin Orchestra. Bluegrass slowly came into his life
through Irish and then old time music. He taught himself mandolin
after completing his studies in classical guitar at the Toronto
University. The love for his wife brought him to Europe and the love
for bluegrass to Rawhide !!!

Rawhide

Rawhide
voted 3rd on
Audience Popularity Award
Voorthuizen 19/05/2007 - Like in 2006, Rawhide got rated as the third
most popular band at the annual EWOB bluegrass festival. To all who
voted Rawhide last saturday: a very big thank you from all of
us!
It seems that we are the only band that played the festival
ten
times in a row. To celebrate this, we sang our special version of Happy
Birthday. Also, we were thrilled to invite our
longtime
friend Bill Keith on stage to join us for our last tune of the evening:
Liebestraum.
We'll be posting some photos soon. We had a fantastic time
and
hope to be playing at the EWOB festival for many years to come!
