Denise Crosby decided to leave the show during its first season, and her character was subsequently killed in the episode "Skin of Evil". She would later reprise her role in a guest appearance in "Yesterday's Enterprise". Crosby also played Yar's daughter, the half-human half-Romulan Sela, in TNG's cliffhanger "Redemption".
