duke/count :

Hi, in May we decided to go trekking in Knoydart, one of the remotest parts of the Scottish Highlands. We left Brussels on Friday 6 May, started the trek on Saturday and ended next Friday, traveled back to Glasgow Saturday 14 and were back home Sunday.

This site is under construction; even the address is temporary - if in the future this address doesn't work anymore, you can always try via the main travel page

The entire travelogue, as well as the photo album are on line in a basic format - travel along using the menu on the left (put your browser full screen for the pics (F11) - there's more pics in the album than in the text)

Maps, ah maps... well, they will follow later. You can look at what we originally intended to do here and here (detail)

A note on the weather - as expected, May turned out to be a month with mainly unsettled Scottish weather, rather wet but also rather sunny, with temperatures well below average. Fortunately, there was one spell of good to splendid high pressure-weather, from the 10th until the 15th. So basically, alright, it would have been better had we left just one day later, especially since that would have made a big change on the first day (the 7th), when the weather was absolutely horrid (8th & especially 9th were ok) - still, not complaining obviously. We only had two days with rain, every day had sunshine, and the unusually low temperatures assured the white tops during the first half of the trip.
