Today Lila Boy left with the family who owned
Urian and Urug uit ‘t Berggat. I
was sad but also happy as I know that he will live there like a prince. |

The 8th week was very busy. I made lots of new pics and uploaded
a couple of movieclips to You-Tube. The first 2 pups left yesterday – more news

I started a new public album on FB and updated the
weighttabel. I hope
the tropical heathwave will end soon !
They need to learn so much more but lay on the cold tiles most of the
day. Only in the morning and the
evening they come out and play.
It is so hot that they even are not very hungry. |

I canceled again a reservation for a boy. I am not easy to give a puppychild
away. Breeding is a matter of mutual confidence and if I don’t feel this :
better now then feeling sorry afterwards. |

I decided to cancel a reservation for one of the
boys. That way we have again 1 boy
available for a warm and caring family.
I am very pleased with this litter so far, it would be nice that he
could go to people who would show and eventually later breed him. |

Lots of changes for the pups during this 4th
week : as the whelpingbox became to small, we moved them to the lower level at the fireplace in the
livingroom. They are safe there during the nights. During the day they run around in the house or outside
when the weather allows it. They
got lots of visitors and big sister Happy started to entertain the pups. |

Amazing what a change in only 3 weeks. Now they are real little
doggies. I can watch them for
hours. I added many more pics in

Last night we lost the 8th pup. We are down to 5 boys and 2
girls sigh The good news is that they are doing
very well and so is Elixir. It
was a perfect day but I am totally exhausted now. I will publish the diary of the J-pups tomorrow |

Elixir managed again to finish her full 9 weeks
since the ovulation. She had in
total 11 big pups – unfortunately it took much to long : the last 3 were
stillborn. I had to reanimate
the 8th pup and was busy all night to clear her lungs and make her
strong enough to drink. Since
noon she took her place at the milkbar – sofar so good. I think she will make it. I took pics of the newborn babys –
see the album on Facebook. |

Last Friday we made a new bigger whelpingbox and
changed the livingroom. All is
ready now for the big day. For

Whelpingday is fast approaching now – Elixir is

Homer uit ‘t Berggat did it again ! He took Best Youth Dog at the
National Specialty of the LCA.
Judge was Guido Perosino. This year it was in Sacramento,
California. Jim travelled +5000
km to get there. My friend Cyd
Erich made many pics. I made an

After a
second bloodtest we hit the road for our 800 km trip to Buchloe. Late
in the afternoon we got a tel - Elixir was ovulating. She was mated
succesfully already that same evening by Ungar Ursus vom Matthiasberg.
And as our hotel was booked untill tuesday 23 - she was mated 4 days on a row
and she liked it :-)

Last week the 2 sisters had so much fun together -
they will surely miss each other and so do we. Lila Girl left us today,

We had already found a good and loving home for
all the pups since half december. They were 8 weeks on 7 jan and since
then they started to leave with their new familys - each day 2 pups left to
make it easier for Elixir. According to this schedule the last girl -
named Hasse - would leave on sunday and then we could start to enjoy our own
Happy. Tonight however I got an annulation ! |

were so many stunning girls. We finally took a deep breath and decided to
stay with our first idea : the blue girl. |

Last days I was way to busy to update my site, on

Elixir had in total 14 pups - all of an average
weight of 500 gr and also very even qua looks. Unfortunately n°8 was a very
difficult delivery and this caused to much delay for the last ones. She
had 11 girls and 3 boys but only 8 girls and 2 boys survived. |

Our daughter of Ursus developed in every way into
the Leonberger we had hoped for. She is a sweet, happy girl, passed all
health tests and was dispite the fact that she was handled on shows by other
people and my husband - a real novice who hates shows - very
succesfull. I think she is worth it to have puppys. |

E-litter Lion de la Toison d'Or was born
today. It was not an easy whelping : we knew from the X-ray there
were 5 big pups. 3 pups came the normal way, 6 hours later Sou-Yin had
a C-section to deliver the last 2 pups. Unfortunately the second girl
had died already, the 3th boy survived. So sad as the breeder had the desire
to keep a girl also. I am very gratefull that this only girl is mine. |

Zannekin developed a closed pyo after her last
heath, 3 weeks ago. She had a surgery today, just in time ! She
showed no symptoms at all, even no fever. The only sign that alarmed me
was a change in her appetite. I can be very lucky that I took her
in for a check, a few more days would have been fatal. |

ultra-sound today showed puppies... Ursus will be father again !

Today Sou-Yin de Val Mauriens was inseminated
with some of the deepfrozen seemen of Ursus. Her first litter of 10
pups was born on 30 august 2004. So preliminary conditions that this AI
should work are excellent. |

Umbra uit 't Berggat was put to sleep today.
1 month ago the start of cancer in her jawbone was found. Surgery's and
additional treatment did not stop the proces and caused her a lot of pain and
discomfort. I thank the Windheim family for this last act of
love. I will soon make a page with pics of the good life she had in
Germany. |

Zaira had 2 pups but bad luck again for my
friends. Altough all their efforts, the vet waited to long and
the male died due to the long labour . The girl survived and was
delivered by a caesarian... That way I had not the heart to claim her and
offered that they could keep her. So Alvit van Ursus stays with her
mother in Italy. |

Was with Ursus at the clinic for a control.
Doctors did not believe it was the same dog. He is already at 67 kg now, so regained
in good 3 weeks 15 kg (3/4 of his lost weight). But as the ultra-sound of his
prostate still showed 2 miniscule lighter spots, he needs to take his
medication for another 3 weeks at least and then another ultra-sound. |

except for the Gross family who will come over in december to fly their pup

Bonnie Meldrum did an X-ray on her
"Rave" to be prepared for the whelping... But it was impossible to
count. At least we know we will have an Ursus-child for ourselves to. Oh

Ursus is back home after 1 week hospitalisation
and 2 surgerys on 30 october to save his life. He had no leptospirosis at all
but a severe infection with colli-bacils ! I made a full update on the page
of his illnes and really hope that we had it all now ! |

While we were in the clinic, Yade vh Hof v Eden
gave birth to 13 puppys ! The first 12 came within about 6 hours, the last
one a couple of hours later and he was already dead then. But 12 is more than
enough we think. We send sweet kisses to the lovely mum and her 4 boys and 8
girls. |

Was at the university clinic for 2 days... they
turned him almost inside out to find out what was wrong. He had ultrasounds
of his whole belly, X-rays of his longues, new blood and urinetests. All
seemed fine except for to many leukocyten. They finally discovered that a
secondary infection of his delicate exterior parts was the cause of his pain.
My vet did stop to early the antibiotic treatment ! Now we are back on
Baytrill untill the next check-up 19 november. |

Complication 16.00 h : Ursus is suddenly very ill,
could hardly walk at all and was in obvious pain ... 16.30 u : vet thought
colics in his intestines or obstruction ?!? Did he eat something yesterday
while I had him outside in our garden all day ??? Oh God ! We will watch him
closely in the coming hours... |

fly-stop in Belgium to visit Ursus, father of their 2 Leo v Adjanti brothers.
We spend a lovely afternoon with them and Kerstin and Jörg Hupe the breeders

feeling empty and sad... Kiserdei Vidocq left very
early in the morning with Trevor and Belinda Pattrick to his new home at the
Rikandan's kennel in England. Our big boy was 10,5 months and already 81 cm
and 60 kg. I hope he will become indeed a real good addition to the
Leonbergerpopulation of the UK. That way I know at least that all this pain
of letting him go now, was worth it. |
