Alpina B10 bi Turbo

Bench Test

Test date: Dec 1, 2008
Power Plus engineering (www.power-plus.be)
Official Alpina data:
360 ch @ 6,000 rpm
520 Nm @ 4,000 rpm
V max: 291 km/h

Test results

2 tests were made: at low turbo boost (0,4 bar) and at high turbo boost (0,8 bar)

Results at low boost:
296 ch @ 5063 rpm
442 Nm @ 3973 rpm.
During this test, the ACSC was on, and reacted during the sequence, creating a "dip" in the power at 4500 rpm

Results at high boost:
378 ch @ 5246 rpm
566 Nm @ 3186 rpm.
ASC was off during this test.

The bench also calculates the real train losses, by measuring the inerty during the decceleration phase.
The losses are as follows:
30 ch at 3000 rpm (power 230 ch) , equal to 13,0 %
100 ch at 5000 rpm (power 350 ch) , equal to 28,5%
In average, the train losses represent therefore approx 20 % of the engine output, which is fair for a car aged 18 years.

All tests were made in 4th gear, as it is a 1:1 ratio.
At 6400 rpm, the speed measured was 240 km/h, which correspond to 296 km/h in 5th gear (0,81 ratio).
At the end of the tests, the engine oil temp reached 95°c, and the train oil , 61°C.
Note that this B10 is 100 % stock, and has now 185,000 kms on the clock..
