Having loved and praised in those pages both Ydin’s previous demo-works («Verityöt» and «Silvottuna Ja Häpäistynä»), it was almost inevitable that I was to embrace their new and third (home?) studio work with open arms. If you didn’t already know, Ydin are a Finnish brutal death metal band and soundwise, «Saasta» do not stray too far from both previous releases. I suppose the easiest way of describing their sound, would be to regard them as an encounter between the American and the Swedish brutal death metal scenes, the whole coupled with some black metal surroundings. However Ydin never sound as your usual copycats, they have somehow managed to take some references of both genres and patched them together into their personal insane and oppressive visions of how brutality should sounds like. I absolutely have no hesitation in recommending this «Saasta» to any lover of brutal and technical death metal.
