Progressive death metal from Italy, not a scene which instantly springs
to mind despite the reborn of Sadist. So it comes to me as a pleasant
surprise when I listened for the first time to the three songs of this
small demo. The music is varied and skilfully written but on the other
side it doesn’t get too exciting. «Affliction» is
a kind of encounter between melodic (Swedish orientated) death metal
and progressive backgrounds. The strange (sometimes seventies orientated)
keys lines bring in the traditional progressive atmosphere and the harmony
guitar lines coupled with the usual guttural vocal works make names
such as Dark Tranquillity / In Flames come to mind. «Affliction»
is thus a good debut but it’s not already groundbreaking either…
a standard release which clearly demonstrates Nacom’s musicians
have the potential to make the whole thing work out on a higher step.
