I’ve put off listening to this «Renaissance» just
because I know this French act play what you can regard as conventional
(and thus for my opinion boring) metalcore (you know something like
death metal coupled with hardcore, the whole coupled with thrash with
some neo metal background) but it’s coming up to the last days
of the deadline and so I’m gonna have to listen to this album
whether I want to or not. Now after a couple of different listens and
even if I can’t honestly say that Breedmachine play my favourite
kind of music and record the best album of the last twelve months, I
would lie if I don’t admit that «Renaissance» is a
well played and quite interesting album. Don’t get me wrong I’m
still no deathcore fan though but whilst a lot of the patterns delivered
here are in the pure ‘syncopated’ style there are touches
of real bestiality here and there. Of course, most of the metalheads
may find it a bit too modern to swallow but if you’ve got an open
mind about trying something ‘core’ orientated and are ready
to give something a few listens to ‘bed in’ then «Renaissance»
could be a release with lots of surprises. Still not my world but way
more interesting that I was first prepared to endure.
