Not many bands have the gall to compete with Bolt thrower to deliver old school (quite one-dimensional) mid tempo death metal. Maybe the German My Darkest Hate were a nice alternative but their nice «Combat Area» is already more than two years old and we don’t see anything coming from our eastern neighbours. Warmaster come from The Netherlands and deliver ultra simple but ultra enjoyable groovy death metal (Bolt Thrower are thus their main influences but you can also detect some Obituary backgrounds). «First War» is their first full-length and it’s a real sweat and blood death metal piece of work which already visited on many occasions my cd player although it’s a million mile from being hailed as innovative or even original. Basic death metal, tanks, bombs... death and destruction everywhere… this album hits the target. Give us more.
