As you can guess from the artwork of «Devotion Materialize»,
Emiliano Sicilia is most likely to please instrumentalists, guitar teachers
and all those that prefer structural specialties over impact and catchiness.
To be honest and to make it short, talented musicians as Jason Becker,
Marty Friedman, Joey Taffola, Joe Satriani, Tony Mac Alpine or Paul
Gilbert (just to name a few, they are so numerous) already bored me
to death some twenty years ago with their musical masturbation. I have
yet to say that «Devotion Materialize» is a very eclectic
album with songs radically different from what I was expecting from
such a musician. Each song has its own rule, its own universe really
different from all the other ones. You encounter traditional boring
stuff such as «Cyber Room» but you shall also discover almost
country death metal hymns as «Splatter On A Bluegrass»,
more rock ‘n’ roll orientated songs or even jazzy and flamenco
works. «Devotion Materialize» is above all an album written
and recorded by a guitar-hero but that does not denigrate in any way
the obvious quality of the music created here. How this guy manages
to combine so many different styles in one song simply beats me. Great
stuff. http://www.emilianosicilia.com
