Infernal Poetry are a long running schizophrenic death metal group from Italy and this four songs «Nervous System Checking» can be regarded as a foretaste of the «Nervous System Failure» album that shall be released before the end of this year. We already reviewed and praised if I’m right, the band’s third full-length «Beholding the Unpure» and what we get here throughout the four songs of their new work is some kind of de-structured schizophrenic death metal or perhaps should I label it as structured death metal chaos. The nervous opening track «Forbidden Apples» sets the tone for the mini-cd. Tons of different (and not always metal orientated) influences, syncopated passages coupled with almost melodic parts, hypnotic bass drums foundation and a mix of harsh screamed vocals and spoken words. As you can guess with this kind of ultra personal (original) product, Infernal Poetry may well alienate a lot of the nowadays death metal listeners but on the other side, «Nervous System Checking» will most likely please to everybody seeking something fresh and innovative.
