The first full-length recorded by this young Finish four-pieces (the band started years ago as Kari Knuuttila’ solo project) shows some very pleasant and above all mature gothic / dark orientated metal. «Beautiful Darkness» is very easy to listen to, female vocals and an atmospheric dark / grey metal instrumental. Although such a comparison might perhaps seem far fetched, musically Tacere are in fact close to the Nightwish musical world (I mean a mix between melancholic dark elements and orchestral heavy metal background). But in spite of what are perhaps a familiar musical direction and a somewhat generic approach, the Finish band delivers surprisingly mature gothic rock. Not only are the arrangement interesting and the compositions attractive (despite some strange keyboards effects) but vocalist Helena adds a lot of both elegancy and emotions to her performance (trying to avoid the usual clichés, she imposes her own trade-mark to Tacere’s musical world). The name of the label gives you the right picture of the music displayed here: metal from Finland….somewhere between Nightwish, Sentenced and the likes. Good job.
