HONEY FOR CHRIST   «The Darkest Pinnacle of Light»

Yet another good work from the Northern Irish act Honey For Christ. For my opinion, «The Darkest Pinnacle of Light» is the band’s strongest release to date as it sounds way more mature and efficient than the 2002 «Forging Iron Will» (see our demo reviews section). Still retaining their special trademark, they forge ahead throughout the five new compositions of «The Darkest Pinnacle of Light» into new musical territories. Honey For Christ specifically play raw, unclean modern heavy metal and as a matter of fact they sound to my ears as the inheritors of United Kingdom heavy metal hordes as Tysondog, Diamond Head, Savage or Grim Reaper. The only real problem that I can find with «The Darkest Pinnacle of Light» (and it was the same with the previous Honey For Christ demo) is the vocals. I have never been very keen on this clean shouted style of vocals, this leans their sound more towards the past and while this gives the band a more original concept I can’t help but feel that a more guttural approach will increase the violent potential of the Irish act. Ok, this is simply my personal taste and the vocals are certainly done well. So…if you want to listen to something different then try them out.
