My grandfather was born on May 17th, 1914 and passed away on June 10th, 2007.
I built this small site to share my grandfather's memoriesduring World War II. He was lucky enough to come home safe without ever having to fire a shot at anyone.
The information published on this web site have been collected in 2005/2006. I asked my grandfather to comment most of the pictures that he took during World War II. I recorded everything on minidisc.
Of course, I should have done this earlier because, although still accurate, many events began to fade and some details were lost.
As a disclaimer, I would also stress that this website is by no means intended to glorify warfare or the NSDAP regime, or whatever! The only purpose is to share the experience of one single person during this very troubled time.
A lot has already been written from an historical point of view and I would only add this information as a very small contribution as lived by my grandfather.
One should never forget that behind history, there were men and women who tried to survive.
