Launched by Lady Law, wife of the Controller of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sir Horace Law. Fired her first Polaris missile in June 1970 and undertook her first operational patrol the following September. Received her Chevaline update in 1988. Paid off May 1992 after completing 56 deterrent patrols and laid up at Rosyth.
