DX4WIN802 AND VISTA ?

Since this release DX4WIN is installed directly in the ROOT of your PC.

The only correct way to install DX4WIN on a VISTA based computer is always with administrator rights!!

This can be done by clicking right on the DX4W(release number).EXE and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR

VISTA UAC (user account control) will ask if you are sure ? Select allow or yes and the installation starts.

At the end DX4WIN will start up with an exception error that the vichw11.sys is not found/installed etc etc

but will continue to start up.

CLOSE DX4WIN NOW.

Now go to start-button | all programs | DX4WIN directory | start DX4WIN again with ADMINISTRATOR RIGHTS (right click and run as)

If all is done via the above steps DX4WIN will start normally without exception errors.

For users that don't need the LPT PORT for CW - BANDDECODERS ETC can start now normally without administrator rights.

Users that need the LPT PORT for controlling hardware out of DX4WIN NEED to RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR EVERYTIME !

This means everytime answering yes to the UAC popup

In the preferences of a Desktop shortcut you can set that DX4WIN always start with administrator rights but still you have to answer to the UAC

UAC popups can be dissabled if you install TweaKUAC, BUT THIS IS ON YOUR OWN RISK
