Lakhovsky observed that high frequency radio waves could energize cells due to the spiral helix found in each cell that act as a receiving antenna. He demonstrated that the application of a pulsed electric field generated by the multiple wave oscillator was able to generate frequencies that are characteristic of living organisms. This type of pulsed alternating electric field generates only capacitive or displacement currents, rather than the conventional charge conducting currents. Under the effect of MWO fields living tissues behave mostly according to their dielectric properties rather than their conductive properties. The fourth edition is upgraded with new insights and for the first time, 3D electromagnetic simulation will show fields and effects of the MWO machine. It reveals that the subject act as an antenna which transmits its disharmonious frequencies to the antenna connected to the ground.

Scientists at UCL have made a groundbreaking discovery in understanding how the genetic complexity of tumours can be recognised and exploited by the immune system, even when the disease is at its most advanced stages. The findings, by researchers funded by Cancer Research UK and the Rosetrees Trust, could guide future immunotherapies and improve the way existing immunotherapy drugs are used. As a tumour develops, the diversity of its genetic faults can be flagged on the cancer cell surface, as unique mutations appear in different parts of the tumour.

For the first time the name of George Lakhovsky (1869 – 1942) has been included into the Belarusian scientific and public context thanks to the articles of Liubou Uladykouskaja and Valery Shalatonin, devoted to his biography and scientific achievements. Harvard student Neil Davey, A.B. ’18, has developed a technique that pushes the possibility of non-invasive cancer diagnosis one step closer to reality. Davey recently won a silver medal in the undergraduate section of the National Inventors Hall of Fame’s Collegiate Inventors Competition for his research project, “Early Cancer Diagnosis by the Detection of Circulating Tumor Cells using Drop-based Microfluidics.”. His technique involves injecting a tiny amount of blood into a microfluidic device to encapsulate single cells from the blood stream in individual microfluidic drops. Once the cells have been encapsulated, Davey uses a polymerase chain reaction (PCR), a common technique in molecular biology, to target and amplify fragments of cancer DNA within the drops.
On May 23, 2011 the National Institutes of Health of the National Library of Medicine of the USA published results of the study of bee products in fighting cancer. It was established that the fundamental principle in oncology treatment with bee medicines is boosting the human immune system to such level where it is able to fight the disease on its own. E-cadherin and p120 catenin (p120) are essential for epithelial homeostasis, but can also exert pro-tumorigenic activities. Here, we resolve this apparent paradox by identifying two spatially and functionally distinct junctional complexes in non-transformed polarized epithelial cells: one growth suppressing at the apical zonula adherens (ZA), defined by the p120 partner PLEKHA7 and a non-nuclear subset of the core microprocessor components DROSHA and DGCR8, and one growth promoting at basolateral areas of cell–cell contact containing tyrosine-phosphorylated p120 and active Src. Recruitment of DROSHA and DGCR8 to the ZA is PLEKHA7 dependent. The PLEKHA7–microprocessor complex co-precipitates with primary microRNAs (pri-miRNAs) and possesses pri-miRNA processing activity. PLEKHA7 regulates the levels of select miRNAs, in particular processing of miR-30b, to suppress expression of cell transforming markers promoted by the basolateral complex, including SNAI1, MYC and CCND1. Our work identifies a mechanism through which adhesion complexes regulate cellular behaviour and reveals their surprising association with the microprocessor.
Some tissue types give rise to human cancers millions of times more often than other tissue types. Although this has been recognized for more than a century, it has never been explained. Here, we show that the lifetime risk of cancers of many different types is strongly correlated (0.81) with the total number of divisions of the normal self-renewing cells maintaining that tissue’s homeostasis. These results suggest that only a third of the variation in cancer risk among tissues is attributable to environmental factors or inherited predispositions. The majority is due to “bad luck,” that is, random mutations arising during DNA replication in normal, noncancerous stem cells. This is important not only for understanding the disease but also for designing strategies to limit the mortality it causes.
Vincent Lauer, MWO member and researcher, has been working on the biological effects of radiofrequencies in a strictly theoretical manner. He developed a theory of the biological effects of radiofrequencies, particularly on the immune system. This theory may explain how the MWO effects biological material. Electromagnetic waves at low and very low power interact with the immune system in a complex manner which lends itself well to analysis and is now well understood. This interaction impacts the capacity of the immune system to react against diseases. Concerning cancer or auto-immune diseases, this interaction can yield both negative and positive effects.
Concerning the Lakhovsky device, an additional effect is discussed: during exposure, the T cell line originally controlling cancer can be temporarily inactivated. This inactivation diminishes local inflammation but also facilitates the replacement of the original T cell line by a more efficient one. This effect is reasonably in-line with observations of some instantaneous healing sometimes takes place, and with similar reports by Lakhovsky himself. As previously discussed the instantaneous observed effect is most likely due to the cessation of inflammation, but it goes somewhat farther than just that. The theory also accounts for the Priore machine, some immunology-related aspects of millimeter wave therapy, and hyperthermia. It explains a number of experimental results obtained by experimenters attempting to study the health effects of electromagnetic waves.

In this class you will learn how to think about electrically active tissue in terms of individual mechanisms, and you will learn to analyze the mechanisms quantitatively as well as describe them qualitatively. The course uses many of the same examples used by Hodgkin and Huxley, who won the Nobel Prize for their experimental unraveling of the mechanisms of the nerve axon of the giant squid, and their creation of a mathematical model of membranes and propagation to understand its function. That work has been the foundational element of most subsequent understandings of electrically active tissue, whether in nerves, the brain or in muscle, including the heart. Topics include the electrical charging of active membranes from the creation and use of differences in ionic concentrations across the membrane, the stimulation of the membrane, both naturally and from engineered sources, the creation of action potentials by the membrane in response to stimulation, the chain reaction of membrane responses, with each small region or cell initiating an action potential in adjacent ones, the observation of associated electrical currents in terms of extracellular wave voltages they create, the basis of clinical measurements such as the electrocardiogram, the course will at each step present equations and other quantitative reasoning so that you will be able to go beyond describing what happens qualitatively and be able to link together the phenomena in the mosaic in a quantitative fashion, which is essential to judging whether specific changes in inputs are important to the outcome. Through the use of quantitative analysis, you will learn that all the elements of the system are tied together and be able to link together and analyze the effects of one part on another.
