The Great DivideBridge in the Great DivideThe Great Divide at night

The Great Divide is definitely the most spectacular camping spot of our 10-days hiking trip. This place offers excellent views on the surrounding peaks and possibilities for one day treks to glaciers in the close neighbourhood. In addition to this, the spot is rather accessible for sportives: it is only 2 days of hiking from the highway. Although, only one other group was present at the time of our arrival.

On the way to Mt Robson From the Great Divide, it is only 7 hours walking to the border of Jasper National park and Mt Robson Provincial park. This line forms also the border between Alberta and British Columbia. Three hours of this day trip lies in the same valey and leads us along one long but beautiful mountain. Once this mountain lays behind us, it is only one hour to the border. From this point, more and more hikers appear in our sight. Still, we are the only campers on the campsite. The reason is the 30-40 minutes walking distance between this camping spot and the valey of Mt Robson. When we pass the border the next morning, all campsites we see that all campsites in Mt Robson Provincial park are full and no more people can come into the park. What a difference with the first part of the North Boundary trail!
