Swimming black bear :) After 5 hours of paddling and wildlife watching, it is time to find a good camping spot and off course, to catch some fish for dinner. A good camping spot is easy to find. On the left river border there lays an old track to the house of a trapper. This flat piece of land is an ideal camping place: there even was a large swimming pool... Some left tools made this place also a little bit mysterious: there were some old chairs, one forgotten axe,... Those things you need for a some good nightmares...

Our first catch: a beautiful goldeneye Today is my birthday, and then you always want something special for dinner. We had a bottle of white wine from a liquor store in Ft. McMurray (and forgot corkscrew) and some real 'Belgian' rice with us. The only extra thing we need is some tasteful fish. We bought a fishing license and some 'local' lures in Ft.McMurray, took our fishing rod from home and were prepared to battle with the clearwater fishes. Just 2 throws away and I feel my first canadian fish: a Northern Pike. Unluckily and not yet expecting a bite so early I loose the pike in front of my feet. No worry, 2 throws and there is already a new one: a beautiful 'Walleye'. This species looks very similar to our Belgian 'Pike Perch'. The fish of about 40 cm has a kind of golden glow and looks like a real predator. Our first catch: a beautiful goldeneye We cleaned the fish far enough from our sleeping place, made a fire and have prepared our dinner on it. Although, the food taste good, Bart's stomach has some problems with it (still some float plane problems). This seems really dramatic, he even doesn't dare to drink a bit from our wine. As a victim of the situation, I have to empty the bottle alone, with as a consequence a bad feeling the day afterwards...

Luckily, some Parovita's and Belgian chocolate later I am the old one, ready to explore some new parts of Clearwater River. Today we will paddle towards 'Whitemud Falls'.
